This week’s riff is written and recorded by Charles Gervase. He shows us an A minor rock riff. This one has an off-beat syncopated feel as he accents the up-beats, especially on the sixteenth notes. Put a little overdrive or distortion on your guitar and have fun with this one.
This riff would be great to learn your minor scales because it uses all seven notes of the A minor scale. You could try to move this riff to different scale positions and play it. Since it spans two octaves of the scale, it would force you to learn your scales in an unconventional way.
